PRIVACY STATEMENT

  1. Medialaw B.V., trading under the name Just Marc ® (“Just Marc”), is the Amsterdam-based legal services company of M.C.S. de Boer, attorney at law.
  2. Just Marc processes personal data in the context of its legal services. In doing so, Just Marc generally acts as a data controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).
  3. Just Marc processes personal data of (potential) clients and/or persons employed by clients, suppliers and third parties such as relations and other lawyers. Such personal data may include: i) contact details (name and address, telephone numbers and email addresses), date of birth, gender, bank account number, data required for processing invoices and proof of identity; ii) data for the purpose of handling the case provided to us by clients or third parties or obtained from public sources; iii) other personal data you provide to us; and iv) other personal data, the processing of which is required or necessary in view of applicable laws and regulations.
  4. Just Marc processes said personal data only for the following purposes: i) provision of legal services; ii) collection of debts; iii) advice, mediation and referral; iv) compliance with our legal and regulatory obligations; and v) marketing and communication activities.
  5. Just Marc processes the aforementioned personal data based on the performance of an agreement, consent of the data subject, a legitimate interest (relationship management) and/or a legal obligation as referred to in article 6 of the GDPR.
  6. Just Marc only shares your personal data with third parties to the extent necessary in the performance of its services and in line with the purposes mentioned in this Privacy Statement. For example, to carry out an expert investigation or to engage a third party on behalf of and on the instructions of Boekx, such as an IT supplier, but also to provide your personal data in connection with (legal) proceedings or correspondence with the other party. In addition, Just Marc may provide your personal data to third parties, such as a supervisor or other authority vested with public authority, to the extent that there is a legal obligation to do so.
  7. A processing agreement will be concluded with third parties who process your personal data on behalf of and at the instruction of Just Marc, on the basis of which these third parties are also obliged to comply with the GDPR. Just Marc will ensure that your personal data is not provided to third parties based outside the EEA without your consent.
  8. Third parties engaged by Just Marc, who offer services as processors, are themselves responsible for compliance with the GDPR for the (further) processing of your personal data. This could include an accountant, notary, other third party engaged for the purpose of a second opinion or expert report.
  9. Just Marc considers it important to adequately secure and protect your personal data. Taking into account the state of the art, Just Marc will take appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk. In the event that Just Marc uses the services of third parties, such as an IT supplier, Just Marc will, within the framework of the protection of personal data, lay down agreements on adequate security measures in a processor's agreement.
  10. Just Marc will not retain personal data it processes any longer than necessary for the performance of its services or as required under laws and regulations.
  11. Your questions regarding the processing of personal data by Just Marc and/or a request for inspection, correction, restriction, opposition, transferability of data, deletion of your personal data or withdrawal of previously granted consent may be addressed in writing to Just Marc, P.O. Box 14750, 1001 LG, Amsterdam. You will receive further notice from us within four weeks of receipt of your request.
  12. Just Marc will only process requests that relate to your own personal data. We will ask you to submit a copy of a valid passport, driver's license or identity card with a protected passport photo and BSN number for verification purposes to ensure that we only provide personal data to the relevant individual. There may be circumstances that prevent Just Marc from processing your request. This may be the case if your request violates attorney confidentiality obligations and/or legal retention periods.
  13. We may use cookies and analytics software to improve and analyze visits to our website. If you accept cookies for example the following data are collected about your visit to our website: IP address, operating system, browser ID, browse activity and other visit data.
  14. Just Marc may change this Privacy Statement at all times without notice. Changes to the Privacy Statement will be published om our website. This Privacy Statement is based on the template of the Dutch Bar and is created on 17 December 2024.
